Carboxytherapy Stretch Mark Treatment

Carboxytherapy is a unique procedure offered at BLC Laser Center which is an injection of C02 gas below the skin with the use of a 30.5 gauge mesotherapy needle. The treatment is virtually painless and quick. There is no downtime with this procedure.

Carboxytherapy is used for the treatment of stretchmarks, scars, cellulite and overall skin rejuvenation. Carboxytherapy works as follows; it weakens improves circulation at the injection site by forcing red bloods cells to release oxygen and pick up C02 to be eliminated by the body. This process of oxygenating the area of concern allows for improved healing by nourishing the skin and by building collagen and elastin in the area. This is a natural reponse from the body. The process of building collagen and elastin leaves the skin tighter, brighter and smooths out cellulite, stretch marks, scars and wrinkles.

Carboxytherapy started in France and has been widely used for over 70 years with no major side effects. Its aesthetic use is now commonplace in Europe and is now gaining popularity in North America. BLC Laser Center is a leading provider of carboxytherapy in North America.

Carboxytherapy is often combined with Fraxel laser treatments for the ultimate stretch mark repair treatment. Multiple treatments are required for best results. Visit us for a complimentary consultation to learn more about our stretch mark treatments.

Fraxel Stretch Mark Treatment

BLC Laser Center is a leading provider of Fraxel treatments for stretch marks. Fraxel® resurfaces the skin texture and complexion by producing thousands of tiny deep microscopic columns in the skin which are referred to as microscopic treatment zones (MTZ). These tiny treatment zones are surrounded by uninjured tissue. In other words, only a fraction of the skin is targeted, therefore, the skin is left intact which allows for quick wound healing. This treatment results in rapid re-epithelialization, eliminating old epidermal pigmented cells, while penetrating the deeper dermis dramatically reducing visible scarring or wrinkles. Each Fraxel® treatment targets 20% to 25% of the skin’s surface. The number of treatments recommended is anywhere between 6-12 sessions depending on the severity of your stretch marks. Normally treatments are spaced 6 weeks apart and optimal results are visible in approximately 2-3 months post-treatment.

On the day of treatment, topical numbing is left on the skin for approximately one hour prior to the treatment. The actual laser treatment is approximately 20 minutes. During the actual treatment you will feel a warm prickling sensation on the skin which most clients describe as tolerable. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm which is comparable to a mild sunburn for 1 to 2 hours post-treatment. Redness and swelling is common, however, the degree of redness and swelling will vary from indiviRestore to indiviRestore. This reaction or pinkness will persist anywhere between three to five days which will be accompanied by bronzing (the skin will have a bronze appearance for 3 to 14 days) and flaking of the skin. Normally a moisturizing cream will minimize the appearance of flaking or peeling. While the skin regenerates and flakes, sunscreen should be applied on a daily basis to protect against sun exposure during the healing process. You may apply make-up and you are able to shave within 24 hour after the treatment.

Carboxytherapy FAQs

CDT is a non surgical technique where by CO2 is infiltrated into the subcutaneous fat via the smallest needle available (30G X ½ in). From one injection point the carbon dioxide diffuses easily into adjacent tissues so you won't feel like a pin cushion. Treatments take 15-20 minutes.
Carboxy Therapy works in three complimentary ways. First, when injected into the subcutaneous fat CO2 mechanically breaks down the fat (lysis). Secondly, it produces a strong vasodilatory effect, increasing blood flow to the area which stimulates the metabolism of fat and remodelling of scar tissue. Finally, improved circulation means more oxygen and nutrients delivered to the skin stimulating the production of collagen which revitalizes the skin's texture and firmness, and thus improving the skins appearance.
No. Often described as uncomfortable, yet 95% of patients find it tolerable enough to complete the required 10 session. As a result of the increased circulation, the treated area will be red and feel warmer for up to 20 minutes.
For stretchmarks or scars the results are long lasting. Once we improve the skin collagen, the results are not easily reversed unless you develop more scars or stretch marks in the area due to weight gain. Multiple treatments are required to achieve great results.
